The RightWay Foundation Receives $2 Million Gift From the Yield Giving Open Call
The RightWay Foundation is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as one of the recipients of the Yield Giving Open Call, a philanthropic initiative by MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving. RightWay has been awarded a generous grant of $2 million to support its mission of assisting foster youth in Los Angeles to build sustaining adulthoods.
In March 2023, Yield Giving launched an Open Call for community-led, community-focused organizations, seeking to enable individuals and families to achieve substantive improvement in their well-being through foundational resources. The Open Call received an overwhelming response, with 6,353 applications, initially planning for 250 awards of $1 million each. However, in recognition of the exceptional work of the applicants, the donor team decided to expand both the awardee pool and the award amount.
"We are excited that our partnership with Yield Giving has resonated with so many organizations," said Cecilia Conrad, CEO of Lever for Change, a nonprofit affiliate of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation that manages the Open Call. "In a world teeming with potential and talent, the Open Call has given us an opportunity to identify, uplift, and empower transformative organizations that often remain unseen.”
The Yield Giving Open Call was managed in partnership with Lever for Change, which connects donors with bold solutions to the world’s biggest problems, including racial inequity, gender inequality, access to economic opportunity, and climate change. More information about the Open Call and other initiatives can be found at Lever for Change's website.
The RightWay Foundation is dedicated to ending the cycle of trauma that leads foster youth to unemployment, homelessness, incarceration, and poverty. RightWay partners with transition-age foster youth to build self-sufficient lives, grounded in mental health treatment and solidified through employment.
"Youth who come out of the foster care system deserve the chance to thrive, no matter who they are," said Franco Vega, Founder and Executive Director of The RightWay Foundation.
We are grateful for this incredible support from Yield Giving and look forward to continuing our work to empower foster youth in Los Angeles.
